Who is the manufactuer? Wonder what their rep is like?

Buttstock is ugly on that.

I'm in the market for an evil black rifle, but am just now beginning to learn about AR's, AK's, SKS's etc. The choices are simply overwhelming and with most things being well sold out...is this a good deal?

Supposedly Inter Ordnance. It's basically a WASR-class rifle, so overpriced for $600 IMHO.

IMHO, not really. I'd spend a little extra money and get the AMD-63s currently at AIM. NODAK receiver, chrome-lined barrel... and they're basically an AK-47.

If you can find a converted Saiga (that can accept standard AK magazines), or a Yugo, even better.

Keep in mind one of the big appeals of the AK was - besides legendary reliability - cheap ammo. Ammo is now scarce, and not that much cheaper than combloc AR ammo.

You may also take a look at the Saiga-12... superb weapon, it's an AK shotgun. Shoot some clays, reactive targets are fun! And loaded with buckshot, it's terrific for home defense.


Honestly, if you didn't need/want something now, I'd wait. I'm already seeing more guns for sale on ar15.com, as people lose their jobs and decide to consolidate platforms (whether it be AR, AK, FAL, etc.) and sell their extra guns and ammo.

The only guns I've bought since the election are a Glock 19 (which was at a normal price) and a FAL (which I got a sweet deal on.)

If you just want an AK to be 'on board' and don't want to spend the extra $$$ that Eulenspiegle is sugg. - It's a GOOD DEAL.

Some are still trying to understand these high prices while places are SELLING OUT over and over again.

Each round that sells out brings what ? .......HIGHER PRICES !!!

The pistol grip and buttstock looks like they came off the Weiger copy they were making a while back. STG-2003 I think.

I guess they ran out of the forearms cause that's definitely a Tapco.

I own a few of these and they are NICE.


They are manufactured in a lil machine shop in South Houston,TX and they are stamped SOUTH HOUSTON.

I bought a few because I'm from South Houston....and knew this gun fiasco was coming.

They are nicely finished rifles.

That pretty much confirms my suspicions. These AK's are all made by 'Global Trades', who has split off 'Elk River Tool & Die' to actually make these AK's.

I've heard that Classic Arms ordered 10k (ish) of the AK style rifles from GT. I guess the first one's have started arriving now.

I wonder how long the new AK's will last?

I own one of these AK's. Good quality IMO.

Elk River Tool & Die Receiver, chrome lined barrel, mine was assembled by a company called RPG Arms in Texas.

I payed $625.00 back in September for mine with a bullet button installed and a 10 round mag (Cali legal)

I'm not sure. I see the price has gone up a few hundred $$ since I made my purchase.

These rifles are nice and light...and I like the stock on them. Mine is also marked Elk River. Near the mag well it says SOUTH HOUSTON.

I paid around 400$ for mine. Fit and finish is nice.

Not bad looking AK

but since I am sitting on over 20,000 rds of 5.45 have to stick with my Tantals- Whats not a bad thing I enjoy the tantal more then any of my AR's plus its dead on at 100 yards with just the iron sights.
but 5.45 is getting harder to find.

Hey TA, thought Id fill ya in on the gun show report.

I saw one or two of the particular model AK above. Classic was selling them for 579, at the gun show they were........699! Didnt see a single one for less than 700.

So if you are thinking of getting that AK, id go for it, it seems like a deal and a half and you know the price will only rise.

I wish I could afford it. Unfortunatley(or fortunatley) Im putting our left over tax return into gold and silver, as the last few boughts have been lead and steel ;)

FGE had their booth there, like always. Packed, like always, but their prices werent the greatest and they were limited to almost JUST glocks and some Springfields. most of them of course being over 600.

Anyways, thought I'd drop you a line like i said i would ;)
